Luton Rapist
A man from Luton has been sentenced to 21 years in prison after being convicted of raping and sexually abusing a child over an extended period. The abuse came to light after the victim disclosed the crimes to school authorities. Ashfaq Khan, aged 26 and residing at The Oaks in Luton, was found guilty of 13 separate offences, including rape and sexual assault. His sentencing took place at Luton Crown Court on Friday, June 27. In addition to his prison sentence, he is also under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. Detective Constable Sophie Andrews from Bedfordshire Police praised the bravery of the victim who came forward and helped bring Khan to justice. She encouraged others with concerns about child abuse, regardless of how long ago it happened, to report it. Andrews expressed hope that the case sends a message that it is never too late to seek help and justice. She added, "We work hard to tackle all forms of abuse against children and would urge anyone who has concerns or has been a victim to come forward."
