FELIXSTOWE POLICE CONVICT TRIO OF TEEN GANG RAPE
Three men have been convicted of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl at a property on Holland Road, Felixstowe.Arturas Bagdziunas, aged 29, from Leeward Court in Felixstowe, along with Mindaugas Mickevicius, 31, of Holland Road, and Aivaras Urbonas, 26, of Beach Road West, all in Felixstowe, were found guilty at Ipswich Crown Court today of raping the teenager on New Year’s Day in 2010.
Detective Sergeant Tamlyn Burgess, one of the officers involved in the investigation, stated: “This was a vicious assault on a young girl who has been left deeply traumatised.
Despite this, she demonstrated remarkable courage to see justice done.
“The bravery of the victim, combined with the diligent work of DC Hannah Martin and other officers supporting her and conducting the investigation, has led to today’s verdict.
Suffolk Police treat all rape allegations seriously, thoroughly investigating each case with a dedicated team.
Crimes where both parties are strangers are fortunately uncommon in Suffolk, and those involving multiple offenders are even rarer.
"Any sexual act without clear consent constitutes rape, and the conduct of these offenders that night is utterly shocking.
We hope that the victim finds some solace in these convictions and that it aids her in moving forward with her life.”
