KENDAL MAN ARON BENNETT SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
In November 2020, a man from Kendal, identified as Aron Bennett, was sentenced to a five-year prison term after being found guilty of multiple child sex offences. The sentencing took place on the 6th of November at Preston Crown Court, where the court heard details of Bennett’s disturbing actions.
Aron Bennett, aged 39 and residing on Wildman Street in Kendal, was convicted of several serious charges related to attempting to exploit a minor for sexual purposes.
The offences included attempting to incite a girl aged between 13 and 15 to engage in sexual activity, sending indecent messages via a public communication network, attempting to facilitate or arrange a child sex offence, and an adult attempting to establish sexual communication with a minor.
The case against Bennett was initiated after authorities received information from an online paedophile hunting group.
This group had employed an adult decoy, posing as a 13-year-old girl, to lure potential offenders.
In March 2018, Bennett made contact with the decoy, attempting to initiate sexual communication.
Over the following days, he sent numerous indecent messages, demonstrating a clear intent to exploit the minor.
Once the authorities were informed of Bennett’s actions, law enforcement officers acted swiftly.
Bennett was promptly arrested following the receipt of the information, which exposed his attempts to engage with the decoy in inappropriate and illegal conduct.
His actions and subsequent conviction highlight ongoing efforts to combat online child exploitation and protect vulnerable minors from predatory behavior.
