MAN JAILED FOR 26 YEARS FOR STABBING EX-PARTNER
A man has received a prison sentence after physically assaulting his former partner, inflicting 17 stab wounds during a brutal incident at her workplace.Anwar Ashraf, aged 39 and without a fixed address, appeared before Winchester Crown Court on 5 June, where he was sentenced to a total of 26 years in prison.
He was found guilty of attempted murder on 27 March following a trial at the same court.
According to court proceedings, on 30 April 2025, the female victim in her 40s was working in Whiteley when she learned that Ashraf had arrived outside her place of work.
She attempted to distance herself by guiding him away from the premises, then re-entered the building and pushed him away to prevent him from following her inside.
During a sudden, violent attack, Ashraf drew a knife and repeatedly stabbed her.
The victim sustained injuries including wounds to her chest, back, foot, and abdomen, as well as defensive cuts on her arms.
A member of the public intervened by confronting Ashraf, detaining him while waiting for the police.
The individual disarmed Ashraf and kicked the knife away, which police later retrieved.
Emergency responders also provided immediate first aid to the injured woman.
Today, Ashraf was sentenced to 26 years in prison, with an additional five years on license.
He will not be eligible for parole until approximately 17 years into his sentence.
