July 2021 Paedo who abused boys dies in prison packed with perverts A paedophile who sexually assaulted multiple young boys has died in prison – less than 12 months into his 17-year sentence. Antony Busfield was jailed in March last year for committing a catalogue of horrific offences against schoolboys, including rape. The 84-year-old retired architect admitted he committed the offences after becoming lonely following the death of his wife. He died after being taken ill at Stafford Prison, where he was serving the sentence imposed at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court. Now an inquest has heard that Busfield suffered from a catalogue of health problems, including heart disease. South Staffordshire Coroner Andrew Haigh concluded Busfield’s death, on January 19, was due to natural causes. Mr Haigh said: “Mr Busfield was 84 when he died. He was known to have significant heart disease and was a serving prisoner at HMP Stafford. “On January 19 he became acutely unwell and died at the prison. There was no need for a post-mortem examination – clinicians were aware of the conditions Mr Busfield was suffering from.
