ANTHONY SPELLMAN AND SHOCKING CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE CASES IN CHESHIRE AND GALWAY
Anthony Spellman, a man from Cheshire with a disturbing history of child abuse, has once again re-entered the public sphere following his release from incarceration.The details of his criminal past reveal a pattern of heinous offenses that span across different regions, including Galway and Cheshire.
Spellman was convicted in Galway Circuit Court in 2020 of committing serious sexual offenses against an 11-year-old boy during the years 1984 to 1986.
The court found him guilty on 20 counts of indecent assault related to these assaults, which took place over a period of approximately two years.
During this trial, the jury was not informed of a prior conviction Spellman had received for abusing a seven-year-old boy, and that he had served time in prison for that earlier offense.
In addition to his convictions in Ireland, it was revealed during court proceedings that Spellman had been the subject of a Risk of Sexual Harm Order issued by South Cheshire Magistrates Court.
This order was the result of evidence indicating that he had sent explicit messages to a 15-year-old boy.
The order was set to expire in 2014, but its existence underscored the severity of his prior conduct.
Spellman’s sentencing following his Galway conviction was for a total of four years, broken down into multiple sentences.
He was sentenced to 16 months on each of the first 18 counts of indecent assault, with additional sentences of 16 months for the remaining counts.
After serving his time, he was released from Midlands Prison just before Christmas, and it is believed he returned to the UK, specifically to Cheshire.
