Eltham Sexual Abuser
In July 2008, Anthony Sheaf, a 28-year-old former soldier from Eltham, was sentenced to 21 months in prison following a disturbing incident involving online predation. Sheaf had been actively searching social networking platforms with the intent of targeting a young girl, believing her to be only 14 years old.

The case revealed that Sheaf had approached a person he believed to be a teenage girl, requesting her to pose in her underwear. Unbeknownst to him, the individual was a cyberspace correspondent who was aware of his intentions and was acting as part of an investigation.

Authorities confirmed that Sheaf's actions were predatory in nature, aimed at exploiting what he thought was a vulnerable minor. As part of his sentence, he will also be required to register as a sex offender upon his release, a measure intended to monitor his activities and prevent further offenses.

The court's decision underscores the seriousness with which such online predatory behavior is treated, especially when it involves targeting minors. Sheaf's case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking on social media platforms and the importance of vigilance in protecting young individuals from exploitation.
