OXFORD MAN ANTHONY SEXTON JAILED FOR COERCIVE CONTROL, ASSAULT AND INTIMIDATION
After an investigation by Thames Valley Police, Anthony Sexton, a 34-year-old man with no fixed address, was sentenced to four years in prison during a hearing at Oxford Crown Court on Friday, March 3.
The trial, which concluded on January 27, resulted in Sexton being found unanimously guilty of multiple charges, including coercive control, causing actual bodily harm, common assault, criminal damage, and witness intimidation.
The offenses occurred between May and July 2022, during which Sexton repeatedly subjected a female victim to coercive control, instilling fear of violence and causing her anxiety.
In July, he assaulted a male victim, resulting in a broken nose, and publicly humiliated and controlled him by removing his clothes, leaving him only in his underwear.
A few days later, Sexton committed further assaults on both victims and caused damage to property.
He also threatened the female victim with violence.
Sexton was arrested and formally charged on August 5, 2022.
Detective Maya Brien from the Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit commented: “I'm pleased that Sexton has been rightly sentenced to custody.
“The victims endured significant abuse, violence, and intimidation, demonstrating remarkable strength and bravery throughout this ordeal.
“I hope this conviction encourages others suffering in similar circumstances to come forward, knowing Thames Valley Police and the Crown Prosecution Service are committed to addressing domestic abuse and supporting victims.”
