ANTHONY SCATTERGOOD FROM COVENTRY JAILED FOR GROOMING VULNERABLE 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN WARWICK JUSTICE CENTRE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the Coventry community, Anthony Scattergood has been sentenced to prison after engaging in a predatory and manipulative relationship with a vulnerable underage girl. The incident unfolded earlier this year, with Scattergood, a 20-year-old man from Coventry, deliberately targeting a 15-year-old girl he met in the city centre during April.
According to court proceedings, Scattergood took advantage of the girl’s vulnerability and trust, inviting her to his flat the very next day after their initial meeting.
Once there, the pair engaged in sexual activity multiple times.
Despite knowing her true age, Scattergood instructed the girl to lie about her age if anyone inquired, insisting she claim she was 16.
This deception was part of his calculated effort to conceal the truth and continue his exploitative behavior.
Scattergood’s residence on Dillotford Avenue in Coventry was central to the investigation.
His actions came to light during the trial at Warwick Justice Centre, where he faced four charges of sexual activity with a child.
The court found him guilty on all counts, leading to a significant sentencing that reflects the severity of his crimes.
He was sentenced to five years in prison, with an extended period of licence following his release.
This extended licence means that he will be under strict supervision for eight years, during which authorities can recall him to prison at any time if he breaches the conditions or if further concerns about his behavior arise.
Furthermore, the judge ordered Scattergood to be placed on the sex offender register for life.
The judge expressed her belief that Scattergood poses an ongoing danger to girls aged between 12 and 16, emphasizing the potential risk he continues to represent to vulnerable minors.
This case underscores the importance of vigilance and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to protect young people from predatory individuals within the community of Coventry and beyond.
