King, residing on Longford Walk in Mansfield, faced serious charges including two counts of rape, two counts of gross indecency with a child, and two counts of sexual assault on a minor. DC Phillip Musson, a member of the Sexual Exploitation Investigation Unit, provided insight into the case, stating, “King was arrested in November last year, 11 years after the offences took place.” He emphasized the bravery of the victim, who is now 18 years old, for coming forward and giving evidence in court despite the emotional toll.
“The victim has shown tremendous courage while giving evidence in court and having to face her abuser,” DC Musson said. “She will continue to be supported by officers from the Sexual Exploitation Investigation Unit.”
He also urged other victims of abuse to follow her example, encouraging them to report any incidents of abuse without fear of judgment or retaliation. The conviction and subsequent sentencing serve as a reminder of the importance of justice and the protection of vulnerable individuals in the community.
