ANTHONY BIRDEE OF DEPTFORD SENTENCED FOR CRUELTY TO DOG MULLER

In a disturbing case of animal cruelty, Anthony Birdee, a resident of Jodane Street in Deptford, London SE8 3PW, was convicted in 2017 for heinous acts of violence against a defenseless dog named Muller. The incident came to light after a concerned bystander reported the abuse to the RSPCA, revealing a troubling scene near Birdee's residence.

According to reports, Birdee, known for his ill-tempered and aggressive behavior, was seen physically assaulting Muller, a nine-year-old dog. Witnesses observed him forcefully throwing the animal against a wall, an act that caused immediate concern and outrage. In addition to the physical assault, Birdee was heard shouting abusive language at Muller, further demonstrating his hostility. The cruelty did not stop there; he also struck the dog with a rope, inflicting additional suffering.

When RSPCA inspectors arrived at Birdee’s home to investigate the allegations, they found Muller in a distressed state, tied to a post in the garden. The condition of the dog was alarming; veterinary examinations later revealed that Muller had sustained injuries to her spine, which resulted in her having difficulty walking on her hind legs. The severity of her injuries underscored the brutality of the attack.

During questioning, Birdee attempted to justify his actions by claiming that Muller had eaten some of his child's food, a statement that did little to mitigate the seriousness of his conduct. The RSPCA inspector, Anthony Pulfer, expressed his disapproval of Birdee’s treatment of Muller, emphasizing that such violence was unacceptable. He described Muller as a lovely dog who was subjected to both physical and verbal abuse, which caused her significant distress.

Inspector Pulfer stated, “This was no way to treat a lovely dog like Muller. She was subjected to physical and verbal violence and I have no doubt she was extremely distressed by the attack. A vet confirmed she would have suffered.” He further added, “That is no reason to treat a dog in such an appalling way and I’m pleased with the sentence.”

Despite her injuries, Muller is now in the care of the RSPCA and is reportedly doing well. The organization hopes to find her a new home where she will be treated with the love and respect she deserves.

In sentencing, Birdee received a 16-week prison sentence, which was suspended for two years. He was also fined £775 and banned from keeping animals for a period of ten years, a ban that will expire in January 2027. This case highlights the ongoing efforts of animal welfare organizations to combat cruelty and ensure justice for victims like Muller.
