MAN CONVICTED OF 'SADISTIC' MURDER OF KELLY PEARCE
Kelly Pearce, aged 36, was violently assaulted, receiving 40 stab wounds to her face and neck, which resulted in brain and skull injuries.
Anthony Ayres, 49, residing on Fairlop Avenue in Canvey, was convicted of her murder by Chelmsford Crown Court.
The court's proceedings revealed that Ayres carried out a "frenzied attack" on Ms.
Pearce on November 19, causing fatal injuries to her neck.
Prosecutor Cairns Nelson QC stated that Ms.
Pearce, who lived on North Avenue, was killed in the bathroom of a flat owned by her friend Joseph Withers.
During the trial, Ayres testified that he was not in a romantic relationship with Ms.
Pearce, though they had engaged in casual sex.
Judge Maura McGown remarked, "Kelly's life was marred by drug use in recent years, but we also heard she was lively, kind, and had a warm-hearted nature.
You launched an attack of extreme brutality bordering on sadism."
