MAN JAILED AFTER KARATE KICK ATTACK DURING INTERVENTION IN WOMAN’S ROW
A 25-year-old ex-soldier named Anthony Anderson was jailed for 15 months after he assaulted Brian Watkins, who intervened to help a woman in a row with her boyfriend.
Anderson was described as having been trained in unarmed combat and karate.
He was caught after Mrs Watkins ran to a nightclub and alerted bouncers who detained him.
Anderson admitted to assault causing actual bodily harm.
The court heard how he grabbed the woman by the throat before kicking Mr Watkins in the head, landing more kicks as he lay helpless.
The victim's £200 glasses were damaged, and he needed five stitches to his cut chin.
Anderson gave a warning to Mr Watkins to mind his own business before attacking.
The defendant's defense claimed he was intoxicated at the time and did not intend violence, and he expressed a desire to apologize.
The incident occurred after Mr Watkins saw Anderson grab the woman and tried to intervene.
