ANOYKE AND MARY FROM MILTON KEYNES SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC CHILD SEX ABUSE AND NEGLECT
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Milton Keynes, Anoyke Andrews, aged 44, and his partner, Mary-Louisa Andrews, aged 50, have been convicted of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse and neglect of a young girl, their stepdaughter. The abuse spanned several years, beginning when the girl was just 10 years old, and included multiple pregnancies, abortions, and ongoing assault within the family home. The case first came to light after the victim, now an adult, summoned the courage to contact police, revealing the extent of her suffering at the hands of her stepfather. The court heard that Anoyke Andrews began raping the girl at the age of 10, and by the age of 12, she was pregnant for the first time. She was subjected to forced abortions, and despite these efforts to terminate pregnancies, the abuse continued unabated in the family residence in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, from 2000 to 2007.
During the trial at Aylesbury Crown Court, the jury found Anoyke Andrews guilty of six counts of rape, two counts of indecent assault, and one count of assault by penetration. The court also convicted Mary-Louisa Andrews of one count of cruelty to a person under 16 years old, a charge that reflected her failure to protect her daughter from the ongoing abuse, driven by fears that her relationship with her partner would end if she intervened.
The sentencing was particularly severe. Anoyke Andrews received a 20-year prison term, a reflection of the gravity of his crimes. His partner, Mary-Louisa Andrews, was sentenced to four years behind bars for her neglect and failure to act to safeguard her daughter. The judge, Francis Sheridan, did not hold back in condemning the defendants, describing Anoyke Andrews as a “thoroughly evil and wicked stepfather,” and criticizing Mary-Louisa Andrews for her betrayal and lack of remorse.
During the sentencing, emotional scenes unfolded in the courtroom. Mary-Louisa Andrews was visibly distressed, crying as her husband was sentenced. The judge addressed her directly, stating, “The tears you shed are for yourself. I do not think any of them are for your daughter. You have not shown any sign of remorse. It is time somebody told you to your face — and I will: You were a wicked mother. When your daughter complained, her complaints were dismissed. You betrayed your daughter to stand by your husband.”
The victim, who chose to waive her right to anonymity to allow her abusers to be publicly named, expressed her desire for justice and closure. The court acknowledged her bravery in coming forward and her ongoing journey toward recovery from the trauma inflicted by her stepfather and the neglect of her mother.
This case has cast a long shadow over the Milton Keynes community, highlighting the devastating impact of familial abuse and the importance of vigilance and intervention to protect vulnerable children from harm. The sentences handed down reflect the severity of the crimes committed and serve as a stark reminder of the need for continued efforts to prevent such atrocities.
