Man Pleads Guilty to Domestic Assault After New Year Violence

NEW Year celebrations turned to violence when a man attacked his partner after they returned home, a court heard.At Bolton Crown Court Andrew Williams, aged 40, of Chapelfield, Radcliffe, pleaded guilty to assaulting Abigail Bennett.Peter Cave, prosecuting, told the court how the pair, who had been in a relationship for three months, had seen the New Year in at a pub before returning home.But in the early hours of the morning, in front of a neighbour, Williams slapped Ms Bennett across the face.When the neighbour tried to intervene, Williams hit her again across the face before grabbing her and pushing her into a coffee table.Judge Timothy Clayson sentenced Williams to an 18-month community order with supervision and ordered he undertake an integrated domestic abuse programme.
