Neath Rapist Child Sexual Abuser
A man named Andrew Wager from Neath was sentenced to seven years in prison for raping and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl. The court heard that Wager took advantage of the girl at a party in Neath Port Talbot in 2022 when she became unwell. During the event, the teenager felt sick and had gone to lie down when Wager sexually assaulted her. The victim had pretended to be asleep for most of the incident. Swansea Crown Court was informed that Wager had previously been convicted at trial of sexual assault and rape and was returning for sentencing. Prosecutor Robin Rouch stated that the rape occurred at the party when the girl was vulnerable after feeling ill and being sick. Judge Geraint Walters described Wager's actions as taking advantage of a young girl in a "dreadful" way, emphasizing that the consequences of such acts can last a lifetime. Wager was also made subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and will be registered as a sexual offender for life. His defense highlighted his previously good character, noting that he was a carer for his partner and well-regarded before the offenses. The judge noted that Wager had acknowledged to the pre-sentence report author the impact his custody would have on his family.
