HARTLEPOOL MAN ANDREW USHER SENTENCED AFTER GROOMING UNDERAGE GIRL FOR SEXUAL GRATIFICATION
In May 2021, Andrew Colin Usher, a 56-year-old resident of Barbara Mann Court in Hartlepool, appeared at Teeside Court for sentencing concerning his grooming of a minor.
He was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, after being found guilty of communicating with a girl under the age of 16 with the intent of obtaining sexual gratification.
Usher used sexual language to attempt to bribe the girl into returning to his address with alcohol.
The court heard that Usher had sent highly sexualised messages with the clear purpose of grooming the girl for sexual activity.
Despite pleading not guilty, he was convicted and ordered to pay £250 in compensation, £128 to victim services, and £600 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
It was also noted that in 2019, Usher received a 12-month community order after making repeated nuisance calls to police.
