Rotherham Sexual Abuser
In September 2017, Andrew Tate, a 52-year-old company director from Broadlands, Bramley, was sentenced to four years in jail after being found guilty of historic sexual offences against a schoolgirl. Following a trial at Sheffield Crown Court, Tate was convicted of three counts of indecent assault and one count of indecency with a child. During the sentencing hearing, which took place on a Friday, Tate appeared via videolink from Doncaster Prison and was observed shaking his head throughout. Judge Michael Slater emphasized that the offences occurred when Tate was aged no older than 17, and the court heard that he had forced the girl, aged between eight and ten, to perform sex acts on him on three separate occasions over a span of two years. The judge highlighted that Tate targeted a vulnerable young girl and did not see him as being immature at the time of the crimes. "I am quite sure you knew what you were doing was wrong and there’s no suggestion you were suffering from any deficit from learning or understanding," Judge Slater stated. The victim delivered an emotional impact statement during the proceeding, describing how the abuse had affected every aspect of her life. Tate is expected to serve half of his sentence on licence.
