ANDREW SIMPSON OF MARSKED FOUND WITH OVER 140 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES

In July 2017, Andrew Simpson, a resident of Marske, was found to possess a significant number of child abuse images.

Police discovered that he actively searched for online images depicting child sexual abuse and was in possession of over 100 still and moving images.

Simpson, aged 57, pleaded guilty to possessing a total of 146 indecent images spanning a period of five years.

Among these, some were classified as Category A, which is considered the most severe.

At Teesside Magistrates’ Court, it was detailed that Simpson had four images in Category A, 58 in Category B, and 84 in Category C.

Prosecutor Rachael Dodsworth stated that the offences occurred between September 2012 and January of this year.

It was also revealed that Simpson deliberately searched for images of pre-teen children online.

Due to the seriousness of the crimes, the chair of the bench, Keith Barker, decided to transfer the case to the Crown Court for sentencing.

Simpson was granted unconditional bail and will appear for sentencing at Teesside Crown Court at a later date.

Additionally, he was subjected to notification requirements, meaning he must inform the police within three days of his conviction.
