Goole Middleton-on-the-Wolds Child Sexual Abuser
In August 2013, a man from Middleton-on-the-Wolds named Andrew Ransome, aged 43, found himself at the center of a serious criminal case involving the possession of a large collection of indecent images of children. Ransome, who previously worked in the IT sector, was caught red-handed by police officers during a raid on his residence. The authorities uncovered that he had stored numerous illicit photographs depicting children under the age of 16 on the hard drive of his personal computer.

It was revealed that Ransome had a history of similar offenses, having been convicted in 2008 for possessing indecent images of children. During that earlier incident, he was found with a staggering 3,717 images of naked children, which he had collected to satisfy his sexual urges. The recurrence of such behavior raised serious concerns about his ongoing criminal activities.

On the day of his latest court appearance, Ransome pleaded guilty to three charges related to the possession of indecent images, which were created between 2010 and November 2012. The hearing took place at Hull Crown Court on Monday, August 19. His legal representative, Mark McKone, requested that the court postpone sentencing to allow for a report on Ransome’s background to be prepared by the Humberside Probation Service, citing the importance of understanding his personal circumstances.

Judge Michael Mettyear informed Ransome that all sentencing options remained available, including the possibility of a custodial sentence. The judge decided to adjourn the case for four weeks, with a new sentencing date scheduled for September at Hull Crown Court. During this period, Ransome was granted bail and was permitted to leave the court free pending further proceedings.

In a related case from November 2008, Ransome, then aged 38 and residing in Welham Close, Goole, was sentenced to 14 months in prison after admitting to nine counts of making indecent images of children. His conviction followed a police search of his home, which uncovered 200 tablets of Rohypnol, a drug associated with date-rape, as well as an electric stun gun. The court also learned that Ransome possessed a total of 3,934 indecent images and videos, including at least one classified in the most severe category of abuse.

The 2008 investigation was initiated after US authorities shared information with Humberside Police, leading to the search of Ransome’s residence. Judge Roger Thorn QC handed down the 14-month sentence, emphasizing the gravity of his offenses and the danger posed by his possession of such material. Both cases highlight the ongoing concerns regarding Ransome’s criminal conduct related to child exploitation and abuse.
