ORPINGTON PERVERT ANDREW PLATT JAILED FOR GROOMING UNDERAGE GIRL IN POLICE STING
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Orpington, Andrew Platt, a 43-year-old accountant, was sentenced to two years in prison after being caught attempting to groom a young girl online.The incident unfolded as part of a police operation aimed at tackling online child exploitation, during which Platt was deceived into believing he was communicating with a 13-year-old girl.
Under the alias 'Andy Jones,' Platt engaged in a series of online conversations with what he thought was a young girl.
Over a span of three months, he exchanged numerous messages, during which he attempted to build a relationship and groom the girl for meeting in person.
At one point, he sent her explicit images of himself, further indicating his intent to exploit her.
Unbeknownst to Platt, the girl he was communicating with was actually an undercover police officer.
His plans to meet her were thwarted when he read reports about another paedophile being jailed, prompting him to back away from the meeting.
Authorities acted swiftly following their suspicions.
In October, police raided Platt’s residence in Orpington, uncovering a disturbing collection of indecent images depicting children as young as eight years old on his mobile phone and computer.
The evidence was damning and led to his immediate arrest.
During the court proceedings, it was confirmed that Platt would be required to register as a sex offender, a measure that aims to monitor his activities and prevent further harm.
