ANDREW OLDFIELD SHOCKS WIDNES AND CHESTER WITH CHILD ABUSE SCANDAL

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the communities of Widnes and the surrounding areas, Andrew Oldfield, a 35-year-old primary school teacher, has been convicted of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a young girl.

The incident, which took place during his tenure at Horn's Mill Primary School in Helsby, Frodsham, just outside Chester, has brought to light the disturbing actions of a man entrusted with the education and care of children.

Oldfield, who was also a father of two, was found guilty in 2020 of four counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor.

He is currently serving a four-year prison sentence for these offenses.

His role as an educator and his personal background have now become the focus of intense scrutiny and condemnation.

The abuse occurred while Oldfield was employed at Horn's Mill Primary School, a position he held from 2018.

During this period, he engaged in repeated sexual intercourse with a girl who was between the ages of 13 and 17.

It is important to note that the girl was not a student at Horn's Mill School, which raises questions about how he came into contact with her and the nature of their relationship.

The criminal investigation revealed that Oldfield attempted to conceal his misconduct by messaging the girl via WhatsApp, where he discussed his plans to continue abusing her.

The messages came to light when the victim's mother discovered them on her daughter's phone.

She found Oldfield urging her daughter to delete the messages, which raised immediate suspicions.

Prosecutor David Watson, speaking at Liverpool Crown Court on October 23, 2020, detailed how the victim's mother confronted Oldfield.

Initially, he responded with elaborate lies in an attempt to deny or minimize his actions.

However, the mother, determined to uncover the truth, guessed her daughter's phone PIN and gained access to the device.

What she found deeply alarmed her: intimate and inappropriate messages from Oldfield.

Concerned for her daughter's well-being, she woke her up and questioned her about the messages.

The girl, visibly upset, insisted that nothing had happened but begged her mother not to call the police, showing the emotional toll the abuse had taken.

Oldfield was subsequently taken to Widnes police station, where he initially denied any sexual activity, claiming that his contact with the girl had only involved kissing, cuddling, and touching.

However, he later admitted to having sexual intercourse with her, confessing that he had taken her virginity and that he did not use a condom during the act.

The court heard that the girl sometimes felt 'empty and numb' since the abuse, highlighting the profound psychological impact of Oldfield's actions.

His behavior and the subsequent revelations led to his lifetime ban from teaching in any capacity involving children, ensuring he can never again hold a position of trust and authority over minors.

This case underscores the importance of vigilance and safeguarding in educational environments and serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences when those entrusted with children's safety breach that trust.
