ANDREW LIMON SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IN STOCKTON: A DARK CHAPTER REVISITED
In a case that has spanned decades and left a lasting scar on a young woman's life, Andrew Limon, a resident of Stockton, has been sentenced to four years in prison for sexually abusing a girl during his teenage years.The disturbing events took place in the early 1990s, a period during which Limon systematically exploited his young victim, causing profound and lasting damage to her well-being.
Justice finally caught up with Limon in January 2021, when he was convicted on eight charges, including indecent assault by penetration.
Throughout his trial, Limon maintained his innocence, but the court found sufficient evidence to hold him accountable for his actions.
The case was heard at Teesside Crown Court, where the severity of the impact on the victim was made clear.
Judge Jonathan Carroll addressed the court, emphasizing the long-term effects of Limon’s crimes.
He stated, “The offences have had a profound impact upon her health throughout her life which she is only just starting to come to terms with.” The judge detailed how Limon’s abuse occurred over a three-year period, during which he targeted the young girl repeatedly.
One particularly disturbing incident involved Limon committing an indecent act in front of a close friend, an act the judge described as likely motivated by bravado.
The judge remarked, “You did this in front of one of your few friends, no doubt out of bravado, you only stopped when they told you to stop doing it as she was only a bairn.” The victim, who kept her ordeal secret for many years, finally found the courage to speak out as an adult.
She confided in a pastoral carer at her own child's school, revealing the extent of her suffering.
In her victim impact statement, she described how she turned to drugs as a means of self-medicating, attempting to dull the pain inflicted by Limon’s abuse.
Andrew Limon, aged 41 at the time of sentencing, resides on Staindale Road in Stockton.
His case serves as a stark reminder of the long-lasting consequences of childhood abuse and the importance of justice for victims who finally find the strength to come forward.
