ANDREW INSLEY JAILED FOR VOYEURISM AND SEXUAL ABUSE IN RUGBY AND ASHTON HELSTON
In a recent court ruling, Andrew Insley, aged 46, has been sentenced to six years in prison after being convicted of multiple serious offenses involving a minor. The crimes, which include voyeurism and sexual activity with a young girl, took place over a span of several years and have left lasting emotional scars on the victim.Insley's residence at the time of the offenses was on Fore Street in Ashton Helston, Cornwall. The court also mandated that he be placed on the sex offender register for a period of 15 years, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the potential risk he poses to the community.
The victim, who is now 18 years old and resides in Leicester, endured significant psychological trauma as a result of the abuse. She continues to suffer from recurring nightmares and panic attacks, which have profoundly affected her daily life. The court proceedings were described by Leicestershire Police as an emotionally taxing and traumatic experience for her, highlighting the profound impact of the case.
The incidents in question occurred in the Spicer Place area of Rugby, with the abuse spanning from 2002 to 2009. These allegations came to light after a thorough investigation by law enforcement authorities, leading to Insley's arrest and subsequent trial.
Detective Constable Jenny Tattersall, a member of the Force Serious Crime Team, publicly commended the victim’s resilience, stating, “The victim in this particular case showed immense strength and courage throughout the proceedings. I know she has found it particularly difficult, and I am proud of the way she has conducted herself throughout the investigation, trial, and sentencing.”
She also expressed hope that the sentencing would serve as a deterrent and a message of support to other victims of sexual abuse, encouraging them to come forward with confidence that their reports will be taken seriously and thoroughly investigated.
Andrew Insley faced a total of nine charges, including eight counts of sexual activity with a minor and one count of voyeurism. The court's decision underscores the seriousness with which such offenses are regarded and aims to protect vulnerable individuals from similar harm in the future.
