ANDREW HILL FROM HAMILTON CAUGHT WITH OVER 185,000 CHILD PORNOGRAPHIC IMAGES AND VIDEOS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Hamilton, a local man named Andrew Hill was found to be in possession of an alarming collection of indecent images and videos involving children. The authorities uncovered this extensive illegal material during a police raid on Hill’s residence, located on Clarkwell Road, just before the Christmas period of 2019.Hill, aged 38 at the time, faced serious charges after the police discovered that he had accumulated more than 185,000 illicit photographs and videos depicting minors in various states of exploitation. The sheer volume of material was described as staggering by investigators, highlighting the severity of the offense.
The investigation was initiated after the police received a tip from the National Online Child Abuse Prevention organization, which flagged suspicious activity linked to Hill’s computer equipment. Acting on this intelligence, law enforcement officials obtained a search warrant for Hill’s home. During the raid, they seized four electronic devices, including a laptop, an iPad, and two external hard drives, all of which contained the illegal content.
During police interviews, Hill largely remained silent, responding with “No comment” to most questions. However, when asked whether his wife was responsible for accessing or viewing the images, Hill firmly stated, “Definitely not.” When further questioned about his own involvement, he again declined to answer directly, replying only with “No comment.”
Judge Thomas Millar presided over Hill’s appearance at Hamilton Sheriff Court on the Friday following the raid. Hill, who has no prior criminal record, was formally charged with downloading and possessing child pornography. The judge acknowledged the gravity of the case, noting the large number of images and the extended period over which Hill had accumulated this material.
In his remarks, Sheriff Millar emphasized the need for a comprehensive background report and a risk assessment before proceeding with sentencing. Hill was granted continued bail and was scheduled to return to court on October 15 to face the charges and potential penalties, which could include imprisonment and placement on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
