Tipton Child Sexual Abuser
A known sexual offender from Sandwell has received a 14-year prison sentence for historic sexual assaults on a girl who was underage at the time.
Andrew Gearing was found guilty of multiple charges, including indecent assault, unlawful sexual intercourse, and engaging in sexual activity with a child.
He exploited her youth to commit these abuses, which she courageously recalled years later. Her account was supported by the public protection unit, which conducted investigations leading to Gearing's arrest.
Gearing, aged 62 and from Tipton, denied the allegations but was convicted on all six counts he faced. His sentencing took place at Wolverhampton Crown Court last Thursday (5 September). In addition to his prison term, he was also sentenced to be on the sexual offenders register for life.
During the trial, it was revealed that Gearing threatened to harm her loved ones if she spoke out, and physically assaulted her, including hitting her in the stomach to intimidate her from conceiving a child.
