Andrew Cuss

Gloucester Cinderford Sexual Abuser

July 2015 Paedophile who groomed boy for sex was already on the SOR A paedophile who coerced a Northamptonshire boy into depraved sexual acts out of “isolation and boredom” will spend the next six years in prison before he is eligible for parole. Andrew Cuss, of Woodford Court, Gloucester, was found guilty of three counts of indecent assault and one count of buggery after a jury trial. Yesterday the 38-year-old appeared at Northampton Crown Court to be sentenced for the crimes. Cuss was handed a nine year prison sentence by recorder Paul Bleasdale QC, though he will be eligible for parole after serving two thirds of the term. Mr Bleasdale said: “I am satisfied you went about grooming (the victim) for sexual activities by encouraging him in activities he did not wish to participate in. “There was an element of coercion.” The recorder also said that the victim had found the trial a ”very upsetting experience” and was finding the crimes “difficult to come to terms with”. Mitigating for Cuss, Jane Rowley said the defendant had “limited intellectual function” and was an isolated man with no friends or family connections. “He is not malicious, vindictive or evil,” she said. “He is a man who has tried to control his predilection but has had to acknowledge they are greater than he thought.” Mrs Rowley added that Cuss’s crimes were committed out of “boredom and isolation” and said the defendant was willing to seek help during his time in prison. Cuss, who was already signed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for previous offences involving downloading child abuse images in 2010, will also be subject to an indefinite Sexual Prevention Order. March 2012 Sex offender posted 340,000 messages on Facebook A PAEDOPHILE who narrowly escaped jail in 2010 has breached a court order by regularly visiting Gloucester library to post 340,000 messages on Facebook. Andrew Cuss, 34, of Victoria Street, Tredworth, pleaded guilty to breaching a sexual offences prevention order, when he appeared before city magistrates on Monday. He was using two phones to access Facebook and had also borrowed another sex offender’s library card. Prosecuting solicitor Sharon Green said: “The defendant was given a two-year community order in November 2010 for making indecent images of children. “He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years and was made the subject of an indefinite sexual prevention order. “He was prohibited from using the internet for the purpose of accessing social network sites such as Facebook. Police visited the defendant’s home last November and checked two of his mobile phones which established that he was accessing Facebook. “He admitted going to Gloucester library regularly between April 2011 and November 2011 and, with the added use of another sex offender’s library card, spending up to four hours a day accessing Facebook.” Records showed he had posted 340,000 messages. Defending solicitor David Brown said: “He was on his own, bored and depressed and gave in to temptation. Police confirm that there is no indication whatsoever that any of this activity involved contact with children and there has been nothing improper.” In 2010, Cuss, who was living above his family’s reptile shop opposite a youth club in Cinderford, admitted downloading child abuse videos from the Internet.
