OFFENDER PLEADS GUILTY TO BRUTAL DOMESTIC ABUSE IN MACHYNLLETH
A man named Andrew Craig Page, who has no permanent residence, was involved in a severe domestic abuse case involving his former partner in her home in Machynlleth. The incident occurred on February 5 when Page threatened her with a knife, strangled her unconscious, and continued to assault her over several hours.
Court proceedings revealed that Page, exhibiting shouting and erratic behavior, refused to leave when asked, escalated the violence by throwing her to the floor, and pursued her upstairs with a knife while demanding she leave the door open during her toilet visit.
He repeatedly accused her of acting like a victim, and at one point, strangled her until she lost consciousness.
Later, he slept beside her with the knife on the bedside table as she stayed awake in fear.
The assault concluded only when his employer arrived the following morning to pick him up for work.
The victim showed physical injuries, including cuts, bruises, and strangulation marks around her neck.
Despite later apologizing and claiming to seek assistance, Page continued to threaten her, even returning under the pretense of mental health issues.
He assaulted her again, damaged her television, and made threats to kill her, saying, 'You have to die this time.' She managed to flee and reported the incidents to the police.
Page pled guilty to intentionally strangling her, with threats to kill also included in the case.
He was sentenced to 32 months in prison and a restraining order for five years was granted.
He will serve part of his sentence in custody before being released on license.
The police officer involved commended the victim for her bravery and noted that abusers often feign remorse to maintain control, but law enforcement supports victims in seeking justice.
