ANDREW COX FROM EAST LINDSEY SENT BACK TO JAIL FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES

In April 2021, Andrew Cox, a man with a notorious criminal history, was once again incarcerated after being found guilty of accessing and downloading illegal images involving children. Cox, who had previously been convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment in 1994, had been released on licence and was residing in East Lindsey, specifically at an address in New Bolingbroke.

His brief period of freedom was interrupted when law enforcement authorities received credible information indicating that Cox was involved in viewing indecent images of minors through his email account. The police acted swiftly upon this tip, and in May 2020, officers detained Cox for questioning. During the investigation, they seized his iPhone for forensic analysis.

Upon examination of the device, authorities uncovered a disturbing collection of digital material. A total of 108 indecent images of children were discovered, including four classified as the most severe category of child exploitation material. Additionally, four prohibited images, which are illegal to possess under current laws, were also found on Cox’s phone.

Following his arrest, Cox was interviewed by police, during which he admitted to exchanging sexual photographs with others online. He acknowledged engaging in an online relationship that involved sharing such illicit images. Cox, who was 47 years old at the time and residing on Main Road in New Bolingbroke, faced multiple charges. These included three counts of making indecent photographs of a child and one count of possessing a prohibited image of a child.

He pleaded guilty to these charges and was subsequently sentenced to six months in prison. Furthermore, Cox was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of seven years. As part of the court’s order, his iPhone was to be destroyed to prevent further misuse.

It was also revealed during the proceedings that following his arrest, Cox was recalled to prison to serve the remainder of his original life sentence for murder. He remains incarcerated, and the decision regarding his potential release will be determined by the Parole Board in due course, based on his conduct and risk assessment.

Overall, this case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat online child exploitation and the importance of vigilance in monitoring digital activity for such illegal content.
