ANDREW COLVILLE SHOCKS RICKMANSWORTH WITH SEXUAL MISCONDUCT AT ROYAL MASONIC SCHOOL FOR GIRLS
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Rickmansworth, Andrew Colville, a former teacher at the prestigious Royal Masonic School for Girls, has been found guilty of engaging in sexual activity with a minor under the age of 16. The incident, which took place in Rickmansworth, has raised serious concerns about safety and trust within the educational environment.Colville, aged 45, appeared before Harrow Crown Court last Thursday, where he pleaded guilty to the charges. The court sentenced him to six months in prison, but this sentence was suspended for a period of 18 months, meaning he will not serve time unless he commits another offense during that period. Despite the leniency of the sentence, Colville will be required to spend the next seven years on the sex offenders’ register, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities to protect the community.
The offending behavior was committed within Rickmansworth, a town known for its quiet streets and close-knit community. The revelation has caused considerable distress among parents, students, and staff at the school, which has a long-standing reputation for academic excellence and moral integrity.
In a statement issued by the school’s headteacher, Diana Rose expressed her deep disappointment and condemnation of Colville’s actions. She stated, “The actions of Andrew Colville represent a terrible betrayal of trust by a former member of staff. Although he left the school 11 years ago, his actions go against everything we stand for as an organisation, and we are devastated this could have taken place.”
Colville’s case is not isolated; he is the second teacher from the Royal Masonic School for Girls to be involved in a sex scandal. In 2014, Emily Fox, a 26-year-old games teacher, was convicted of sexually grooming a pupil. Fox was sentenced to 15 months in prison and was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for a decade, highlighting ongoing concerns about safeguarding within the institution and the importance of vigilance in protecting students from exploitation.
