ANDREW CARROLL AND SHOCKING CHILD ABUSE IN MANCHESTER

A man named Andrew Carroll, aged 58, has been sentenced to four years in prison after being convicted of sexual offences against a teenage victim in Bradford.

The case, which reached the Bradford Crown Court, concluded with a guilty verdict on two counts of non-recent indecent assault, despite Carroll's initial denial of the allegations.

Carroll, who currently resides on Northumberland Street in Salford, appeared before the court to face the charges related to his abuse of the young victim.

Due to legal restrictions, the identity of the teenage complainant cannot be disclosed.

Throughout the trial, evidence was presented that led the jury to find Carroll guilty on both counts.

A victim impact statement was read out during the proceedings, summarized by the prosecutor Camille Morland.

In this statement, the victim recounted how the trauma and memories of the abuse have persisted in their mind over the years.

The victim expressed that it was only recently that they felt able to come forward and report the incidents because they believed they would be taken seriously and their story believed.

Andrew Carroll’s legal representative, Barrister Clare Walsh, argued that her client had faced significant health challenges.

She explained that Carroll had suffered brain haemorrhages in 2021, which contributed to his current mental health struggles and physical health issues.

Walsh also mentioned that Carroll suffers from claustrophobia, describing him as a man who is very unwell and has complex medical and psychological needs.

During sentencing, Recorder Christopher Rose acknowledged the vulnerability of the victim and noted that the complainant had concealed the abuse for many years out of fear or shame before finally finding the strength to report it.

The judge emphasized the profound and lifelong impact the abuse has had on the victim.

In addition to the imprisonment, Andrew Carroll will be required to register as a sex offender with the police for the remainder of his life, marking a severe legal consequence aimed at protecting the public from potential future offences.
