ANDREW BURTON SENTENCED IN HARTLEPOOL FOR CHILD ABUSE CASE
In December 2017, a disturbing case involving child abuse came to light in Hartlepool, leading to the conviction and sentencing of Andrew Burton, a 45-year-old man.Burton was found guilty of multiple indecent assaults on two young boys, crimes that spanned over two decades ago but have left lasting scars on the victims.
Andrew Burton was subjected to a lengthy trial at Teesside Crown Court, where the jury deliberated extensively before reaching a verdict.
The court heard that Burton had engaged in a series of sexual offenses against the boys, employing various methods to carry out his abuse.
The victims, now adults, have struggled to come to terms with what happened to them, and one of them openly admitted to having 'gone off the rails' and getting into trouble with the police, a consequence he partly attributed to the trauma inflicted during his childhood.
The prosecution, led by Paul Cleasby, revealed that the abuse took place more than twenty years prior to the trial.
He explained that Burton exploited the presence of a computer, which was a rare and exciting device for children at the time, to carry out his sinister acts.
