ANDREW BRUINES FROM SELBY SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IMAGES IN POLICE RAID
A man from Selby, identified as Andrew Bruines, has been found guilty of possessing and downloading indecent images of children, including disturbing videos depicting boys aged between nine and 15 being subjected to sexual abuse. The conviction follows a police operation during which authorities executed a raid on his residence, uncovering over 30 illegal films that contained explicit content involving minors.
Bruines, aged 51, was actively searching for videos related to child sexual abuse on the internet prior to his arrest.
The police investigation revealed that he had accumulated a significant collection of illicit material, which he kept on his devices.
The evidence was substantial enough to lead to his conviction in court.
In sentencing, the court imposed a 16-month prison term, which was suspended, meaning Bruines will not serve time in prison unless he breaches certain conditions.
As part of his sentence, he is required to participate in a sex offenders rehabilitation programme aimed at addressing his behaviour and preventing future offences.
Additionally, he has been ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, a measure designed to monitor and manage his conduct post-sentence.
Furthermore, Bruines is subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
This legal restriction is intended to protect the public from potential harm by limiting his activities and interactions that could pose a risk to children or vulnerable individuals.
The court's decision underscores the seriousness of his offences and the ongoing concern for safeguarding minors from exploitation and abuse.
