Andrew Barraclough Child Sexual Abuser in Stafford
ANDREW BARRACLOUGH
Andrew Barraclough, aged 61, died at HMP Stafford on May 30, 2024.
He had been serving time after being convicted of sexual offences three years ago.
The PPO report said: "While a prisoner at HMP Stafford, Mr Barraclough died of a malignant tumour of the lung caused by idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (lungs become scarred and breathing becomes more difficult) and chronic obstructive lung disease." He'd been given a 16-year prison sentence on July 29, 2022.
An inquest last November concluded that Barraclough died from natural causes.
A review into Barraclough's care at Stafford, which is a sex-offenders only prison, was commissioned by NHS England.
It found that he'd received an "excellent standard" of clinical care that was "equivalent to that which he could have expected to receive in the community".
The PPO report added: "The clinical reviewer found that health care staff should be commended for the high quality of patient centred care provided throughout Mr Barraclough’s time in Stafford."
