A man involved in child sex offenses, who exchanged explicit messages with an individual he believed to be 14 years old, has been sentenced to prison.
The authorities were alerted after an online predator monitoring group provided information that led to his apprehension.
Andre Medeiros, aged 39 and residing in Portugal, received a three-year prison term for engaging in sexual communication with a minor and provoking a minor to take part in sexual acts.
On May 28, 2025, under the username 'CHILL_VIBES,' Medeiros initiated contact with an undercover decoy via social media.
During their initial exchanges, the decoy revealed she was 14 years old.
Medeiros falsely claimed to be a 16-year-old named 'Alex.' As conversations progressed, they took on more explicit content, with Medeiros sharing links to adult videos and requesting a girl he believed was 14 to send a bath-time photo.
The police obtained the messages, which showed Medeiros communicating from a hotel room in London.
It was confirmed that he frequently visits the city for work.
He was arrested there on August 13, 2025, by officers from the City of London Police.
Following his sentence, Medeiros is set to be deported and will remain on the sex offenders register for life.
