HALIFAX MAN AMIR FIAZ GUILTY OF SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST BOY IN HALIFAX AND BRADFORD
In a recent court ruling, a 28-year-old man from Halifax, Amir Fiaz, has been found guilty of multiple serious sexual offences committed against a young boy.The case was heard at Bradford Crown Court, where Fiaz, residing on Mayfield Grove in Halifax, faced a jury that deliberated on the charges brought against him.
Throughout the trial, Fiaz maintained his innocence, denying all allegations.
However, after careful consideration, the jury returned a verdict of guilty on several counts.
Notably, he was acquitted of two charges related to attempted rape, but the jury found him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of causing a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity, as well as sexual assault.
The victim, whose identity remains protected for legal reasons, was only 12 years old at the time of the offences.
The court heard that the abuse took place in Halifax, where Fiaz resides, and involved acts that are considered both heinous and deeply disturbing.
Judge Jonathan Rose addressed the court and the defendant, stating that it was necessary to obtain a report from the probation service before proceeding with sentencing.
The judge described Fiaz’s actions as “persistent and appalling sexual abuse,” emphasizing the severity of the crimes.
During the proceedings, Judge Rose conveyed to Fiaz through an interpreter that a prison sentence was inevitable.
He explained that the length of the sentence would depend on the report from the probation service, which would assess Fiaz’s circumstances and background.
Fiaz is scheduled to be sentenced on January 19.
The judge made it clear that the sentence would be significant, reflecting the gravity of the offences committed in Halifax and Bradford.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts of the justice system to address and punish sexual crimes against minors, ensuring that offenders are held accountable for their actions.
