Edmonton Sexual Abuser
In a case that has shocked the Edmonton community, Allison Robinson, a woman known to have committed heinous acts of sexual abuse, has been convicted and sentenced for her crimes against a young boy. The victim, who has chosen to remain anonymous until now, courageously came forward to share his harrowing experience, shedding light on the long-lasting trauma inflicted upon him.
The abuse began when the victim was just 13 years old, back in 1989. It was during a family gathering, specifically a barbecue hosted by his family, that Robinson, then 24 years old, entered his life in a sinister manner. She was a friend of his mother and managed to manipulate the situation to her advantage, convincing his parents to allow him to visit her home. What followed was a year-long ordeal of sexual harassment and assault that the young boy kept hidden out of fear and intimidation.
He recounted to the Enfield Independent how the abuse started: “She had come round for a barbecue we was having and that is when it started. She began making sexual contact with me at the house and then persuaded my parents for me to go back to her home.” The victim described how the abuse persisted through various trips and holidays, with Robinson threatening to ruin his reputation and even to tell others he was adopted if he ever tried to speak out. The fear was so overwhelming that he resorted to self-harm, feeling trapped with no escape from the torment.
Despite his suffering, the victim confided in his parents after Robinson moved away from the area. Unfortunately, their response was dismissive, with his parents trivializing the severity of the abuse. “They just said ‘so you lost your virginity at 13, big deal’,” he said. This dismissive attitude led him to sever all contact with his family, as he desperately sought to escape his painful past and start anew.
Years later, in 2012, the victim returned to Edmonton and unexpectedly encountered Robinson again. The encounter was traumatic; he was in a kebab shop when she approached him from behind and said, “I told you I would get away with it.” Hearing her voice triggered a flood of painful memories and sent him into a downward spiral. The emotional toll was severe, leading him to heavy drinking, separation from his wife, and a two-year estrangement from his children. The encounter with Robinson reignited the trauma he had fought so hard to suppress.
Determined to seek justice and reclaim his life, the victim, now an adult, worked with law enforcement to bring Robinson to trial. Thanks to the diligent efforts of police officers, Robinson was convicted of two counts of gross indecency with a child under 16 and indecent assault on a male under 14. She was sentenced to 18 months in prison and has been placed on the sex offenders register for the next ten years.
Today, the victim is in the process of rebuilding his life once again. He is also preparing for rehabilitation to address his struggles with alcoholism. Expressing gratitude, he said, “I want to thank all the police officers that helped me get through this and help win my case. I am very relieved about everything and I can now put this behind me and build my life again for good.” He also expressed a heartfelt desire to reconnect with his children, emphasizing the importance of sharing his story to encourage others who have suffered similar abuse to come forward and seek justice. His courage in speaking out serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of confronting abuse and supporting victims in their journey toward healing.
