August 2010 Jail term reduced for lorry driver A paedophile lorry driver who wrecked a teenager’s youth by sexually abusing him during a long-distance trip had his sentence slashed by top judges. Allen Stuart Wilton, 40, was originally jailed for three years at Northampton Crown Court in March after admitting sexual activity with a child. Wilton, of Ash Road, Aldershot, Hampshire, befriended the Northampton teenager several years ago, and took him on a long-distance trip to the south coast during which he molested him in his cab, London’s Criminal Appeal Court heard. Mr Justice Christopher Clarke, sitting with Lord Justice Laws and Mr Justice Griffith Williams, said Wilton had a previous conviction for indecently assaulting a schoolboy, and his latest crime had seriously blighted his victim’s youth. The boy had been carefully groomed by Wilton, the court heard, and felt cowed into submitting to his demands. In his “victim impact statement”, the boy disclosed that he felt profoundly damaged by his ordeal, and had turned to drink and drugs. But, however grave Wilton’s crime, the three-year term was simply too long, said Mr Justice Clarke, before reducing it to two- and-a-half years.
