January 2019 Bishop’s Stortford man jailed after attempting meet ‘boy’ under 16 for sex A Bishop’s Stortford man was jailed earlier this week after attempting to communicate with a ‘boy’ under the age of 16.

Alistair Wood, 42, of Thornbera Gardens, was handed a prison sentence during a hearing at St Albans Crown Court on January 14.

Wood was sentenced for attempting to communicate with the boy – whom he believed to be under the age of 16 – and arranged to meet him for sex.

The offence was committed on October 14, 2017.

However, the boy in question was in fact a profile set up by a paedophile hunting group and Wood was subsequently arrested and charged for his actions.

He pleaded guilty to the offence on December, 17, 2018.

The 42-year-old was handed a 15-month prison term for his actions during his sentencing hearing.

He was also placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years and received a sexual harm prevention order to run for 10 years.
