ALINDON CAMPBELL FROM CATFORD SENTENCED FOR PREDATORY ATTACK IN LEEDS

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, Alindon Campbell, a known offender from Catford, was recently convicted of a serious sexual assault involving a teenage girl from Leeds. The incident took place in August of the previous year, during a visit by the two girls to London for their school holidays. Campbell, who stands at an imposing 6 feet 7 inches tall, was part of a group of men who approached the two teenagers in a stairwell of a tower block in south London.

According to court proceedings at Blackfriars Crown Court, Campbell singled out the 15-year-old girl, trapping her in the stairwell and forcing her to perform a sexual act. The court heard that the girl’s 14-year-old friend was present at the scene but was unable to prevent the assault. The defendant’s actions were described as predatory and aggressive, with Campbell allegedly threatening the girl to comply with his demands.

Judge Aiden Marron, presiding over the case, sentenced Campbell to an indefinite term for public protection. The judge emphasized that Campbell would be required to serve a minimum of two and a half years before he could seek parole. In his remarks, Judge Marron condemned Campbell’s conduct, stating, “You threatened a girl and, to her credit, she initially resisted. However, you managed to obtain your sexual demand by pushing her around and threatening her with serious violence, along with two of your friends. I consider your behavior to be predatory.”

Judge Marron further pointed out that Campbell had a history of sexual offenses, including a previous conviction for raping an underage girl, which resulted in a five-year sentence at the Old Bailey in 2002. The court noted that this latest offense occurred just two months after Campbell’s release from prison. His criminal record also includes four indecent assaults and another rape involving two different girls under the age of 16, all committed in 2002.

Campbell’s defense attorney, Mike Conning, attempted to provide some context, stating, “It appears he has been involved in sexual activity from a young age, at a time when his emotional maturity was insufficient for such behavior. The Crown has characterized him as a threat to young and vulnerable women, but it’s important to note that he was a child himself during the original offenses in 2002, not much older than those he offended.”

Despite these arguments, the court’s decision reflects the severity of Campbell’s actions and his ongoing pattern of predatory behavior, leading to a lengthy and indefinite imprisonment that aims to protect the public from further harm.
