PERVERT WHO LIVES IN KETTERING RETIREMENT COMPLEX CAUGHT TRYING TO GROOM 14-YEAR-OLD
Ali Rayif resides in a sheltered housing development in Kettering, which promotes itself as a vibrant community with activities like afternoon teas and bingo in the shared lounge. However, a court has revealed that the 63-year-old was involved in a different kind of activity.
Rayif was approached by an online child protection organization that monitors for online grooming of minors.
When representatives of the group visited his residence at Sir John Brown Court, Kettering, on December 28, 2024, he immediately acknowledged that the legal age of consent was 16 and admitted that the girl he had been communicating with was only 14.
The teenager was actually a decoy created by the vigilante group, and during their interaction, Rayif encouraged her to keep their secret from adults over a period of three weeks in December.
He also admitted to urging her to participate in online sexual acts solely for his own gratification, and discussed inappropriate sexual acts with her.
A video lasting 32 minutes, which was streamed live on social media, captured Rayif, who was balding, admitting to these actions.
In the footage, the online streamer asked him, “Do you realize what you’ve done?” to which he replied, “Yes.” Rayif acknowledged that his conduct was wrong but claimed he had been “carried away,” denying he had any sexual interest in children.
He also expressed awareness of how such abuse could cause significant mental harm to young victims.
Following his arrest, Rayif appeared at Northampton Crown Court last week, where he pleaded guilty to attempting to communicate sexually with a minor and trying to persuade a child to engage in sexual activity.
He received a two-year community order from Her Honour Judge Rebecca Crane, narrowly avoiding prison.
The sentence includes 26 days of rehabilitative activities, and he is required to register as a sex offender for five years.
A sexual harm prevention order was also imposed, restricting his internet use without police approval, requiring him to disclose all device details, and prohibiting him from deleting internet history or using privacy mode or software to conceal activity.
Furthermore, he is banned from having unsupervised contact with children or staying at premises where children reside.
