HEART TRANSPLANT PATIENT IS RAPED AND JAILED FOR NINE YEARS
A CALLOUS attacker who raped a heart transplant patient was jailed yesterday for nine years.The victim, who cannot take the contraceptive pill due to her medical condition and had to undergo stomach injections to prevent pregnancy, was assaulted by Alexander Wallace, 25, of Park View, Markinch, Fife, on July 9 this year.
Wallace admitted to raping her.
The court was told that Wallace had a prior conviction in August 1994 for indecent assault on a woman taxi driver.
During the attack, Wallace, who had been drinking heavily, pushed her into bushes, threatened her with a Stanley knife, and forced her to perform a sex act before raping her.
The victim heard passersby but was threatened to remain silent, and Wallace left her in shock.
She spent three days in hospital, with doctors describing her as 'almost incoherent' due to trauma.
Wallace was also noted to have previously been convicted for indecent assault.
The judge, Lord Clyde, remarked on Wallace's callous disregard and the threats he used, and sentenced him to nine years imprisonment, citing his previous conviction as evidence of a tendency toward self-gratification with no regard for victims.
