ALEXANDER PHILIP ROWLEY JAILED IN EASINGWOLD FOR TWO SEPARATE RAPE OFFENCES
A man has been sentenced to prison for the rape of two women in separate incidents that occurred several years apart.Alexander Philip Rowley, aged 26 and residing in Easingwold, consistently denied the allegations and claimed his victims were lying.
Despite this, a jury found him guilty of two counts of rape, and he was sentenced to 11 years in prison today.
Rowley's victims, both young women, were targeted at different residential addresses in North Yorkshire in recent years.
The sentencing took place at Hull Crown Court.
Upon release, Rowley will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
After the sentencing, Detective Constable Gillian Gowling, who led the investigation for North Yorkshire Police, commented: “Both of Rowley’s victims have shown great courage and tenacity in coming forward and working with us, especially given Rowley’s constant denial of what happened.” She added, “While this is never an easy process for victims, I hope today’s sentencing provides some degree of closure.
It also removes a sex offender from our communities, helping to ensure others are protected from harm.” DC Gowling also urged anyone who believes they may have been raped or sexually assaulted to seek support and advice.
“Regardless of how long ago it happened, there are advice services available to help people explore their options, which may involve prosecution or emotional and practical support, or a combination of all,” she explained.
“Victims decide what steps to take, and I want to make sure they know what help is accessible to them.”
