ALEXANDER CAPLE SENTENCED IN BURNLEY FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES AGAINST TEENAGE GIRL
A teenage girl who was molested by 31-year-old Alexander Caple experienced disruptions in her schoolwork and sleep difficulties following the assault.
Preston Crown Court was told that Caple pressured the 14-year-old girl not to disclose what had happened, warning her that if she did, he would be sent to prison.
Despite this, within hours, the girl confided in a schoolfriend and informed her mother about the incident.
Authorities became involved, and Caple, of Helston Close, Burnley, was arrested.
He later admitted to engaging in some sexual activity with the girl.
Although he initially denied an indecent exposure charge, that allegation was withdrawn after the prosecution decided not to proceed.
Judge Phillip Parry sentenced Caple to four-and-a-half years in prison and issued a 12-year sexual harm prevention order.
Evidence presented at the hearing revealed that Caple had groped the girl over her clothing before committing a more serious sexual assault.
In a victim impact statement, the girl described how she had struggled with sleep and could often be heard crying during the night.
She was preparing for her GCSE exams but was sent home from school after falling asleep in lessons, and her academic performance had declined.
