Hakin Domestic Abuser
A man named Alexander Campbell caused serious harm to his partner by fracturing her eye socket after a dispute over his drinking habits. The incident occurred after she suggested he cut down on his alcohol intake. Following the assault, Campbell and his partner had been in a relationship for several years, and he was staying at her home in Hakin as he had nowhere else to go. On that day, she returned home and found Campbell appeared intoxicated while watching TV, leading to an argument during which he punched her in the face. The following morning, she discovered she had double vision and a fractured eye socket, requiring hospital treatment. Two days later, Campbell was involved in further violent behavior at Legends Tavern in Johnston, smashing furniture and throwing a chair at a television. Police responded to reports of him banging on a house door and attempting to force entry using a broken plant pot. When officers arrived, Campbell resisted arrest, causing scratches to an officer during a struggle. He was found in possession of three diazepam tablets and pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm, criminal damage, assaulting an emergency worker, and possessing a Class C drug. Campbell, who had 12 previous convictions for 21 offences, was sentenced to nine months in prison, suspended for 18 months, with requirements to complete an alcohol monitoring program and an accredited treatment course.
