December 2015 Pervert jailed for ‘disturbing’ interest in extreme porn & child abuse images A 21-year-old Frome man with a ‘disturbing’ interest in extreme pornography and indecent images of children has been jailed for four-and-a-half years. Alex Nicholas-Watts, of Wynford Road, Frome, pleaded guilty to 13 charges when he appeared before Taunton Crown Court, and had previously admitted 18 charges at Swindon Crown Court. Nicholas-Watts was living in Corsham at the time of some of the offences in early 2014. The court was told the charges included causing a child to watch a sexual act for the purpose of sexual gratification, making indecent photographs of categories A, B and C, possessing 404 indecent images of children and three of possessing extreme pornographic images. Judge David Ticehurst told Nicholas-Watts when sentencing: “Although you are only a young man, you clearly have a very disturbing and concerning interest in viewing and making and distributing images of young children who have been subjected to the most appalling abuse.” Judge Ticehurst said the most serious was arranging or facilitating the commission of a sex offence between October 20 and November 30, 2014, which was committed while he was on bail. He said: “You pose in my judgment a very real danger to young children in the future. “Either you stop this disgusting and sick interest in young children or I have no doubt you will appear before the courts again on further and, potentially more serious offences. “If that’s the case, the next sentence you receive is likely to be in double figures.” The judge also made a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for life. Investigating officer Detective Constable Melanie Carosi, from Wiltshire Police, said: “Throughout the police investigation Alex Nicholas-Watts maintained his innocence – trying to put the blame on various other witnesses and causing them a significant amount of distress. “This prolonged the length of the investigation and increased the amount of work required to finalise the case. “I would like to thank those witnesses who persisted in supporting the enquiry, and ensuring that this man was unable to evade prosecution.”
