POWYS MAN AVOIDS JAIL DESPITE SEXUAL CHATS WITH 52 CHILDREN
A 21-year-old Powys man, Alex Mellor, has avoided jail after admitting engaging in sexual conversations with over 50 children worldwide.
Mellor also admitted trading in child pornography, with more than 300 images found on his phone, including some of babies.
Evidence showed he accessed websites related to child sexual abuse material, shared abuse, and communicated with boys as young as 11, including in America.
He began conversations with 52 children aged 11-16, mostly between November 2022 and May 2023.
He was sentenced at Swansea Crown Court on December 15 to 12 months jail, suspended for two years, and ordered to undertake a 40-session internet sex offenders course, a sexual harm prevention order, and to register as a sex offender for 10 years.
