ALEX LAW SHAMES KENT AND NORTHUMBERLAND WITH HORRIFIC CHILD SEX OFFENSES
A Metropolitan Police officer, who was granted anonymity during a misconduct hearing despite being a convicted sex offender, has now been publicly identified and publicly shamed for his heinous crimes.PC Alex Law, aged 43, was photographed for the first time after his brave victim, who was under the age of 10 at the time, came forward to reveal her long-standing suffering of fear and shame spanning over two decades.
Law’s criminal history dates back to 1996 when, at just 15 years old, he committed two indecent assaults against a young girl who was out playing in the woods near his hometown of Hexham, Northumberland.
Hexham is located approximately 20 miles west of Newcastle.
The girl, who was under 10 years old, endured these traumatic experiences at a time when Law was a juvenile himself.
Despite his early criminal acts, Law later secured employment with the Metropolitan Police Service, concealing his dark past from his colleagues and the public.
It was only in December 2022 that the victim, overwhelmed by the weight of her silence, decided to report Law to Northumbria Police.
Her decision to come forward was driven by a desire to prevent other women from suffering similar abuse.
The case drew significant attention because, during a misconduct hearing held by Scotland Yard on April 25, Law was allowed to remain anonymous, a decision that sparked controversy.
This hearing took place just three days after Law was sentenced to two and a half years in prison at Newcastle Crown Court.
Law, who was known publicly only as Officer A, pleaded guilty to two charges of indecently assaulting a female under the age of 14.
As a result, he was placed on the sex offenders’ register for life.
The force confirmed that Law, of Cedar Drive in Dartford, Kent, and attached to Met Detention, was dismissed without notice by Assistant Commissioner Pippa Mills.
Law’s dismissal was a direct consequence of his criminal conduct and the revelations about his past.
The victim, speaking to The Journal newspaper in Newcastle, expressed her profound pain and the lasting impact of Law’s actions.
“He’s ruined my life.
I could have been somebody so different,” she said.
She described how her childhood was marred by feelings of shame and self-hatred, which she attributed to Law’s abuse.
“Growing up I felt like I was a weirdo, I felt dirty.
He made me hate myself.
I have made some not great life choices and been in some violent relationships because of him,” she added.
She also revealed that Law had sent her a picture of himself in his Metropolitan Police uniform, a gesture that further encouraged her to speak out and warn others about “monster Alex.” Her courage in coming forward was recognized by law enforcement officials, who emphasized the importance of victims’ bravery in seeking justice.
Detective Constable Phil Trotter of Northumbria Police, who led the investigation, praised the victim’s bravery.
“This conviction was only possible because of the bravery shown by the victim.
She found the courage to speak out and trusted that our officers would listen and fully investigate what happened,” he said.
Trotter also expressed hope that her actions would inspire other victims of historic abuse to come forward, emphasizing that it is never too late to seek justice.
Metropolitan Police Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Cox also commented on the case, thanking Northumbria Police for their diligent investigation.
“He is now serving a prison sentence and has rightly been swiftly dismissed from the Met.
We remain committed to ensuring those who are not fit to police are removed from the organization,” Cox stated.
Overall, this case highlights the ongoing issues of accountability within law enforcement and the importance of supporting victims of childhood sexual abuse.
