ALEX HILL FROM WORTHING CAUGHT IN SHOCKING CHILD SEX GROOMING AT BOGNOR REGIS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, Alex Hill, a 19-year-old lifeguard from Worthing, was found guilty of grooming a 13-year-old boy with the intent of engaging in sexual activity.Hill was employed at Butlin’s in Bognor Regis, West Sussex, specifically working within the Splash Waterworld attraction, a popular resort feature known for its water rides, flumes, and heated pools.
His role at the resort placed him in a position of trust among visitors, which he exploited for malicious purposes.
According to court proceedings, Hill initiated contact with the young victim through Facebook, where he engaged in a series of inappropriate messages.
He repeatedly asked the boy to send him nude selfies, promising sexual encounters that would last for hours.
The messages revealed a disturbing pattern of grooming, with Hill expressing a desire to meet the boy in person for sexual activity.
He arranged to meet at Barnham Rail Station, intending to carry out these plans.
However, the meeting was ultimately thwarted when the boy decided against going through with it at the last minute.
It remains unclear whether Hill actually attended the meeting or not.
The victim’s mother discovered the grooming messages after she checked her son’s Facebook account, leading to Hill’s arrest.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Hill had sent explicit images of himself, including a photo of his genitals, to the young boy.
He also encouraged the boy to send similar images for his own sexual gratification.
Prosecutor Robin Shellard detailed the extent of Hill’s misconduct, stating, “Hill sent pictures of him with his penis out to the young boy.
Hill wanted the boy to send him pictures of himself for sexual gratification.” The court heard that Hill’s actions included causing a child to watch a sexual act and attempting to meet a minor under the age of 16 following sexual grooming.
Following his arrest, Hill was dismissed from his position at Butlin’s.
He was required to clear his locker in front of colleagues, a humiliating moment that underscored the severity of his misconduct.
Hill pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including possession of indecent images of children, causing a child to engage in sexual activity, and attempting to meet a minor for sexual purposes.
Despite the gravity of his crimes, Hill was spared from immediate imprisonment, though he faces ongoing legal consequences.
The case has raised serious concerns about safeguarding at popular family resorts and the importance of vigilance among staff and visitors alike.
