ALEX DALY AND SHOCKING SEXUAL OFFENCES IN LINCOLNSHIRE
A man described as 'evil' by authorities has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of multiple historic sexual offences in Lincolnshire.Alex Daly, aged 65 and residing on High Street in Scotter, was handed down a 22-year prison sentence on Monday, September 18, at Grimsby Crown Court.
The conviction followed a six-day trial during which Daly was found guilty of committing four counts of rape, seven counts of indecent assault, and two counts of indecency with a child.
The crimes in question took place over a span of approximately eight years, primarily during the 1990s and early 2000s.
These offences only came to light after they were reported to Humberside Police in 2020, prompting a thorough investigation that ultimately led to Daly’s conviction.
The trial and subsequent sentencing have been met with relief from law enforcement officials.
Investigating officer Paul Wells expressed his satisfaction that Daly is now removed from the community, stating, “Daly committed a string of heinous offences over a series of years, and I am reassured that he is now off our streets.” He also praised the bravery of the victim, emphasizing, “I want to praise the victim for their bravery in coming forward and helping to put this evil man behind bars.” Officer Wells further issued a warning to potential offenders, saying, “I hope that today’s sentencing sends a clear message to anyone thinking about committing offences of this nature; if you do, we will do everything we can to find you and we will bring you to justice.” He urged anyone who has been a victim of sexual offences, regardless of how long ago the incidents occurred, to come forward and report them, assuring that victims will receive support throughout the investigation and judicial process.
In addition to his prison sentence, Daly has been subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
Furthermore, he will serve an additional year on licence, ensuring continued supervision after his release from prison.
The case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in Lincolnshire to address and combat sexual crimes, especially those that are decades old but still have profound impacts on victims.
